We had a brilliant time. All staff were wonderful with the children and gave them lots of encouragement to try activities and so had fun with them. Would definately recommend that family and friends visit. School visit June 2011
The best thing was the raft building because i had never done it. I learned how to tie a better knot

Problem Solving

The archery ranges and climbing wall are floodlit making this a activity also available as an evening session.
The Climbing & abseiling wall is a fun challenge for the kids and a great addition to our weeks activities. This activity will be available later in the year.
The Archery is floodlit if needed. Archery is a fantastic fun activity and one that everyone can get excited about. There are always many surprises as to who does well with this activity, make sure it’s on your program.
Loch Insh is ideally situated with miles of woodland trails all around, we can be in the middle of the woods in 2 minutes and never far from a phone or a main road for safety.
To get the most from this beautiful area, mountain biking is a very popular longer session with great trails and wildlife through the woods of Glenfeshie.
All instructors know the area well and carry a map, first aid kit, repair kit and a mobile phone and a radio to make sure we are contactable at base should anything go wrong.
“All the instructors love taking the kids mountain biking due to the awesome forest trails around Loch Insh. The kids really feel like they are in the middle of nowhere whilst actually being never more than a couple of miles from the centre.”
Jonny Freshwater chief instructor.
From the centre we walk into the forest opposite where we hope to see our resident red squirels, roe deer, woodpeckers, and maybe, on a special day, long tailed or crested tits.
Loch Insh is one of the only places in Britain where the Goldeneye duck breeds and can be seen on the last part of the walk down the lochside.
This one hour tour includes a short history of Loch Insh and identification leaflets onboard describe the wildlife you might see. The star performer is our resident osprey, nesting nearby & fishing over the loch.
Great team fun, design and build your own raft using ropes logs, and barrels. Once completed it’s into wetsuits & buoyancy aids and time for the race across the corner bay never more than 10M from shore.
Quite a lot to do in one hour so time to get the kids pumped up with healthy competition. Not enough time for best of three first past the post is the winner!
With a large group this can be a fun two hour session to finish a week with an extra “Tom Sawyer” exploration of the loch and test the raft fully in the deeper water, rescue boat following at all times
Instructors are always ready to get wet and safety boats are on hand to assist anyone in trouble. Children must wear a helmet and buoyancy aid while taking part on the water. Great to get the kids working together developing their debating and listening skills.
This is a great leveler its not always about speed accuracy is key too. At loch Insh we have three very different levels of course which engage different age and ability levels. Using these we build up to use a fully certified competitive style course by the end of the session. Tends to be done in the evening.
We have over 50 different tasks you can choose between. But here are some of the favorites:
Try to get across the river to the other side with only a two man boat merchants must not be out numbered by the servants 6 in the group three merchants and three servants.
Try to get out of the enclosure without alerting the guards or electrocuting yourself!
Working through the woods the only way forward is to go through the giant spider’s web. Each group member has to pass through a different hole can the whole group get through without waking up the spider?
The group must build a structure to cross a ravine using basic equipment. The bridge must be assembled and retrieved after use to be used again. Nobody must fall into the water at any point.
Who can catch an egg from the highest height using the kit provided? This is an indoor session suitable for a bad weather day. We use one of our lounges in the main lodge for this. Great fun and a bit messy!
Test your knowledge of what you have learnt so far quizzes for summer and winter. They are all about the area you are visiting, the sports you are doing, the people you are meeting and a few random questions just to catch you out. Lets see who has been paying attention during the lessons. Great fun for everyone. or just leave it up to your instructor.
All these sessions lend themselves to the long Summer Evenings. Long daylight hours mean we can enjoy the outdoors right up until 9PM.
A great evening session after a hard day up the hill. These movies show you how to do it and how not to do it. Great action movies from around the globe in all sports you choose what you want to watch! These can be shown in the main lodge or in the bar on our big screen depending on the age group concerned!
We always finish off the activity week with this firm favorite. Two hours of madness at the end of the groups stay. Teachers and kids and all the resident staff make an appearance! A great way to finish off the week this ends with a presentation to all the kids with achievements certificates and a video and slide show of some of the captured moments of the week.
We usually finish each week with a disco & prize giving where everyone gets a certificate and special achievements are recognised.
We will send you home with a video of your week with the premier shown after the prize-giving on our big screen.
Depending what you want to get out of your trip you may want to break up you week with excursions to nearby visitor attractions.
