Activities

Overview

The spectacular scenery of the Loch Insh is reason enough for a visit. It is further enhanced by all the things to do at the centre without ever having to leave the site. This means your group spends more time on activities and less time on a bus!

Accommodation is provided in Insh Hall Lodge and all meals are taken at our Boathouse Restaurant.

Learn new skills, make new friends and leave with fond memories which will last a lifetime.

Tried and tested

Our program has evolved over the years to maximise activity time from the moment you arrive to the last morning before you depart. Check out the example week below.

With so much on offer you can work with our Schools Coordinator to create a bespoke experience for your group to suit the time of year and your budget.

One group leader free for every 10 paying places. Prices are based on 10 guests up to a maximum of 140

Day 1 Monday

Arrive at Loch Insh

Depart from your school for the journey to Loch Insh. Arrive around Lunch time where the group will receive their welcome talk, followed by lunch. Then it's straight into the action with the first 2.5 hour activity i.e. sailing, where the group get to master the basics of sailing before they are guided around the Loch under supervision of their instructor. Dinner is served at 5.30pm when we have one small school or two servings between 4:30 - 6:30 if we have more than one school. Each evening we fit in another 1.5 hour activity session i.e. Orienteering.

Day 2 Tuesday

Breakfast is served from 7:30 -9:30 to allow a bit more free time before sessions start at 9:30. Your first session today may be windsurfing - a great to get over the fear of getting wet! Morning sessions last till 12 noon and are followed by lunch from 12 - 1:30 giving everyone plenty of time to change and eat.
Afternoon session kick off at 1.30pm and offer an opportunity to work off your lunch on a guided tour of nearby Inshriach Forest or a mountain bike trip to Glenfeshie. The group will be split by ability to support everyone and allow progression. Routes are specially selected with the emphasis always on fun and safety.
After dinner the evening session will be a "Capture the Flag" game in the nearby woods; a great way to tire them out before bed!

Day 3 Wednesday

Another action packed day of activity at the Loch with a mixture of dry & wet sports. In the morning the group will go for a paddle in kayaks to explore the Loch further, entering the River Spey and two nearby islands, covering about 3 miles under your own steam!
In the afternoon you could fit in an archery session and a trip in the tour boat at 1.15 hours each.
In the evening you will do another 1.5 hour session of Skiing or Snowboarding.

Day 4 Thursday

Lots of brain power required for today! Start off with an improvised rafting session; a great way to encourage team work, knot tying and paddling skills. Have a go at improvised raft building - the perfect way to spend a summers day. Lets hope it floats!
In the afternoon you'll do a problem solving session to build on many of the skills you've already left, as we dream up ever more complicated scenarios pitched at the right age and ability. Thursday evening is the highlight of the week for many with our BBQ and disco night. The night ends with a prize giving and certificates of achievement which are given out by your Loch Insh Instructors. The finale is watching your action packed video of the week which you get to take away with you as a reminder of the week. The DVD features as many faces as we can film, particularly those involving crashes and falls, as well as the teachers having a go! A great memento of your week.

Day 5 Friday

Fit in one more dry activity before you go, such as a nature walk or a Canoe along the Loch side, before jumping back on the bus to head home. Rooms must be vacated at 10am
Upon departure, if you would like to add an additional visit to a local attraction such as the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore, we can help you arrange this.
