45 Years’ Experience

The best range of activities

Founded in 1969 by Clive and Sally Freshwater, Loch Insh has continued to provide first class inclusive summer and winter group package holidays and activity days, developing a tried and tested system over the years to offer you the best range of activities to fit your requirements.

Clive, Duncan, Andrew and Jonathan have continually developed the delivery of our activities from entry level lessons up to instructor level in both winter and water-sports disciplines.

Over the years they have put together and overseen the implementation of these programs. They have a lifetime involvement in all the sports offered at Loch Insh and as such a wealth of experience on what works best for our unique location.

All activities are done at the centre without ever having to leave the site. In fact the only time we need to use transport is to access the snow on the mountains when we do our ski weeks in winter months.

Group Sessions

Enjoy great activities!

A range of wet and dry activities are spread throughout your stay, always finishing on a dry note for the bus journey home. We teach complimentary activities in a certain order (weather permitting).

Learn new skills, make new friends and leave with fond memories which will last a lifetime.

Our program has evolved over the years to maximise activity time from the moment you arrive to the last morning before you depart. With so much on offer you can work with our Schools Coordinator to create a bespoke experience for your group to suit the time of year and your budget.

One group leader free for every 10 paying places.

If you are looking for something really special, we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Contact us to plan your school trip.

Accommodation

For groups

We offer warm, comfortable group accommodation within Insh Hall B&B. Insh Hall can accommodate different sizes of groups and is served by three separate common rooms/lounges. Our rooms are a mixture of single beds, bunk dorms sleeping 4 – 10 and family rooms with a double bunk and twin singles. All rooms come with bedding and towels and ensuite shower wet rooms for ease of use.

There are two main drying rooms for use by groups, perfect for hanging all your clothing that gets soaked during activities onsite! Coin operated washing and drying facilities are available.

Groups eat in our spacious Boathouse Restaurant which accommodates up to 90 in a single sitting. The restaurant sits overlooking Loch Insh where the view is stunning whatever the season. We can provide a variety of menu options to fit your budget and dietary requirements.

Al fresco dining is always a favourite with our groups and a BBQ is a great way to end your day without the formality of sitting in the restaurant, especially if it’s a nice sunny day.

Our BBQ’s are pitched next to our basketball area allowing the youngsters to let of some steam while the sausages are cooking.

BBQ’s can be arranged for all ages, including salads and drinks.

Safety First

Fully Trained Instructors

Loch Insh Watersports is an AALA Recognized Training Centre (Adventure Activity Licensing Authority). We are also a RYA centre and can deliver BCU certified courses for paddle sports. We work to the standards set by these governing bodies, or AALA, whichever is relevant to the group or area we are operating in. Our instructors are fully trained and carry radios and mobile phones, which keep them in contact with beach base at all times.

All instructional staff and many non-instructional staff are qualified first aiders.

We have extensive risk assessments in place and six rescue boats are always on standby when the beach is open.

These boats maintain constant contact with the base at the beach.

Our instructors know every inch of the Loch and surrounding forest, and they know which safety areas to use are should the conditions suddenly change.
